Excel: Boats + Hospitality = > Impact

London’s Excel exhibition centre has a huge amount of indoor exhibition space that can be tailored for my different layouts and events but thanks to it’s location within the Royal Docks it also has the added feature of a waterside exhibition and demonstration area (see related blog article).

However, this water space and easy access to the river Thames also opens up the use of various boats for a range of hospitality activities. This could include hosting receptions on boats moored alongside the dock edge or for running sightseeing and reception events along the river in to the centre of London.

Some of the boats used for alongside events have included:

  • Thames sailing barges;

SB Will @ Gallions Reach 23-07-14

  • yachts;

Rani (1) @ KGV Dock 08-03-14

  • and sailing ships.

Kommandoren (4) @ KGV Lock 08-03-14

The use of such hospitality opportunities allows event organisers to reward exhibitors or for exhibitors to entertain clients and for those that use the boats as a route in to town it provides sights of the varied Royal Docks landscape as well as seeing all the Thames riverside sights from the Thames Barrier to Tower Bridge and beyond.

Some of the boats and operators have included:

City Cruises @ KGV Lock 28-04-14

Silver Sturgeon (3) @ KGV Lock 22-05-14

Symphony (1) @ Gallions Reach 04-11-13
