Tall Ships 2014 – London Parade of Sail

I was fortunate enough to receive an invitation to go afloat on the Thames to see the ships mustering for the parade.

My host for the trip was the owner of the fantastic Thames Limo and a previous article about the boat can be found here.

We encountered the first of the fleet in Limehouse Reach.

We then proceeded down past Greenwich and around to abeam the West India dock entrance and then shadowed the sailing ship Jantje as she made her way to the start point.

As we approached the lower pool some great views of the ships assembling were to be had with a fantastic backdrop of London landmarks.

Overall the whole Sail Greenwich 2014 event has been an amazing spectacle with lots of great sailing ships to see and thanks go to the  organisers and all the supporters that helped stage and manage the event – lets hope London doesn’t have to wait another 25 years for an event of this magnitude.

A full set of the photos from the day can be found here.
