All but the last few sailing vessels have now left London either for their home ports or their next destination and the waters of the Thames in East London have returned to their normal traffic patterns but the memories of the sights of so many sailing ships on the river will last for a very long time.
Most of the visiting sailing ships were part of the Falmouth to Greenwich tall ships race and regatta and these were joined by additional ships taking part in the sail Greenwich cruising event.
Some of the ships had visited in the past but for others this had been their first visit
Some were small yachts whilst others were multi-masted sailing vessel.
Some were modern replicas whilst others were older historic originals.
All were most welcome visitors to London.
This page has a few pictures of the vessels that attended but to see many more taken at different times and places thought the event please see here.
Until the next time – ‘fair winds and following seas’ to all participants.
