New flagship for the Sea Cadets

Last year the Sea Cadets said goodbye to their 43 year old sail training ship TS Royalist that has been a regular sight on the Thames over the years.

As the The Marine Society and Sea Cadets wish to continue with their young person’s adventure training activities a new vessel was commissioned – to be called TS Royalist.

Costing just under £5m a new 34m long Brig rigged sailing vessel was ordered and has arrived in London for the official naming and commissioning ceremony to be held in West India Dock at Canary Wharf in London.

To help mark the occasion two of the Sea Cadets other training ships are also in London – namely the TS Jack Petchey and the TS John Jerwood – quite usual to have the three in London at the same time.
