The river Thames at North Woolwich gets lots of different ships and boats passing by and of these some are based in the London area and some are infrequent visitors from far and wide.
When tugs are involved you can never be quite sure what will appear in their tow and so the arrival today of Marine & Towage Services tug MTS Vigilant on the river was something to look forward too.
On this occasion the tug was bringing in a newly built barge for use by the Cory Environmental team that move waste material down the Thames from London.
The barge, called Ashley, was built by a Belgian based company called the Meuse & Sambre Shipyard.
No doubt the barge will soon be earning it’s keep and will be seen being towed up and down the Thames.
